There are a few strategies I use to keep me going and to stay on track with my fitness goals!
Announce my intentions- Once I've told people what I'm going to do, I am determined to follow through with the appropriate actions to achieve the goal! If you want to fall short of a goal, keep it a secret and you probably will fall short!
Cook in ADVANCE! -Usually on Sunday, I cook all of my meat and starches for the week, separate them into proper portions and put them in tupperware or plastic baggies. During the week, no thinking involved... just grab, reheat, and eat. Less temptation that way!
Schedule my workouts- My workouts (and therefore my fitness) is a priority so it gets scheduled in my Treo just like all of life's other priorities. I try not to violate that appointment but at times when something really pressing comes up, I reschedule my workout appointment instead of skipping it.
Plan to Cheat- I find it a lot easier to stick to my meal plan when I know exactly when I can have the yummy (not so figure friendly) food I'm craving. Same with my workouts. When I get a little lazy I can always think well I want to go do my workout because on Sunday I won't be able to... Sunday is my day off from the gym!
The HOLD OUT Move- OK This one is pretty funny but if I find myself craving food that is not on my meal plan and if I'm not due for a scheduled cheat meal (yes I eat yummy food too), I do what I call the HOLD OUT. I remove myself from the situation for 5 minutes and distract myself with something else... ANYTHING ELSE. Most times when 5 minutes is up, I'm so occupied by my distraction that I forget about the craving all together.
So now that you know how I do it, it's time to share! What tricks do you use to keep you focused on your fitness plan? Click the 'Post Reply' button and type away!
